Own The Hour

There's a new site I found, called "Own the Hour."

It’s an independent Etsy promotional site with blocks for sale, one hour at a time. Because each block is only 50¢, the page designer is hoping artists will be willing to buy at least one of the 12 spots available to showcase their handmade creations. The weekend will probably be the first to fill up, just like on Etsy. Right now there are spots open.

And there are html badges already written for you, to add to your blog or website.

You can follow what's going on with OwnTheHour on Twitter.
Being on Twitter will help spread the word. So, what you think? Is it going to fly?

I think people may buy/by into it if they feel that it is getting exposure and will be worth the cost. But $.50 for advertisement is not too bad (but can add up quickly).

I've heard about it via twitter and it seems like it could be a good idea - don't know that I'm really "sold" on it though...

I saw two responses to it on Twitter. One saw zero increase in views, the other had a sale. And the shops were comparable in slaes /view rates.
So, I guess it's hit or miss...but isn't most advertising?
