Blogfire Carnival - Mother's Day, 2009

Mom's the glue that keeps our family together. Her opinions are important to me, and I know I wouldn't be who I am, without her. She loves gardening and flowers, I love gardening and flowers. She loves books and is a librarian. Me too.

I usually get her a plant and card for Mother's Day. I've given her necklaces for Chanukah and her birthday, since I started beading. We're both wearing (above) something that I've made. Well actually, my turtle is on a double strand treasure necklace now. Yes, I take things apart and put them back together again. Don't do THAT too much anymore... thank goodness!

Here's a African jade set (right) I made Mom, a few years ago. Very classic.

Gifts for moms? Well, it depends on your mother. My mom likes earthy and classic pieces.

Here's a dainty piece, for a woman who has a place in your heart. I bought this lampwork bead pendant (right) from Graceful Creations. You can find Peggy on Etsy, her store name is AmazGrac (haven't seen her yet on Artfire). She also has a bead store called The Bead Connection, with Czech beads and pearls.

There are hearts and crystals throughout the two strand necklace, with lime green turquoise and onyx.

Or, you can always get your mother something small but useful, like a bookmark. Serious readers can never have enough bookmarks! Here's one for sale in my shop (left), for the horse lover. I know you're out there! This bead is carved from bone (not by me, mind you!) and dyed with tea.

So, for the Mothers that brought us into the world, Happy Mother's Day!
