Etsybloggers Carnival - November 6, 2009

The Etsybloggers Carnival topic I chose this week: "What was your most successful sales event or product, and why do you think it was."

I think my most successful sales event was the first year I attended Arts 'N Action, in Frederick, Oklahoma. That year my turtle treasure necklace was smack on the front page, and everyone recognized it, when they walked by my booth. The town is a small county seat for a small southwestern farming/ranching community. I think it was a treat for people to find some beautiful turquoise jewelry, without going to Santa Fe! (and I won a Third Place Booth ribbon this year, another thrill)

It's hard to say what my most successful product has been... so far! When I first opened my Etsy account, I sold a number of pieces the first month. The first sale felt great. It was to another Oklahoman. She kept getting in touch with me, until she had a complete jewelry set. Very fun to make special order items.

But I think I was most excited when I put another turquoise necklace on Etsy a few days later, and it sold within minutes. "Woo Hoo! I Like Etsy!" The buyer said in her convo: "Hi there, I keep coming back to this necklace. Turquoise is a stone that I have always been attracted to. I need this necklace!" Gosh, 7th Heaven, right at my desktop!

Congrats on getting on the front page, that is really cool. I considered joining esty a few years back; but just never did and now everything I make goes to charity...still though the idea of selling things you make to folks who like them is pretty cool. I LOVE both of these necklaces you've pictured. Really beautiful. The silly thing is, I love big jewelry when I see pictures of it, when I see it on other people...but am a very small frame person and everything on me looks like a little kid playing dress ups. The smaller pieces that suited to my size just don't seem as interesting to me. So, as a result; I wear very little jewelry.
