Etsybloggers Carnival - Winter Blues

One of the carnival topics (Feb 14, 2011) that Linda from pruitthandcrafts put to us this week is: "We are in the middle of winter! Write something about you/your family's winter experiences."

Ice falling, February 2011
In the past few years, winters have not been the best season around my house.  Last week was the first time we had real bad weather, with moisture in the air and busted pipes under the house.  It was nice having two days off work, but not having indoor plumbing was the pits!  We called in the plumbers - five days later, everything was fixed.  It wasn't too expensive, but now I'm a little weary.  The second winter storm hit early this morning.  Luckily, it wasn't as bad as everyone was expecting.

Snowed in, December 2009
Last winter, a bad ice storm blew in at Christmas time.  It brought the city to a standstill, broke trees and power lines, and my neighborhood (among thousands in Oklahoma) lost power for days on end.

Crocuses in the snow, February 2011
I see the green of the crocuses in the front yard and think, what do they know that I don't?  Are they just trying to soak up the sun while it's out?  Everyone is saying they won't complain when the stifling hot weather arrives.  I won't either!

I remember your horrible winter last year!!! It seems that the best of us are being beaten down by this crazy winter weather! Good luck getting through!

I feel your pain! I am not the best with the humidity but I will try to remember to not complain come summer--this winter is the pits.

My wife has a friend in Oklahoma and she can't believe the weather. I feel bad for all of you. It has been crazy in Connecticut this year also. Stop by tomorrow if you find time and check out what is happening here.

Thanks for sharing this! I can recall how "winter" Season gave me a headache when I waited for my mom outside the house because i got no key. I had no other choice but to wait..Freezing cold!

What's up with those crocuses? Maybe they DO know something you don't. Hope things look up soon; I'm sorry about your pipes.

Oh, so sorry about your pipes! Winter is not my favorite time of year, and ours has been particularly cold and snowy this time. I do like the change of seasons, so I am trying to appreciate the goodnesses of Winter. That plus I get to go away somewhere warm very soon!
I say the crocuses are hopeful!

Yikes! That sounds like awful winter experiences. At least the flowers are peeping out and that's hopeful!! The snow is so thick at my house it will be months before it all melts away.
