Art Journaling, or art therapy?

Moira asked us to practice our own form of art therapy last week, and create a page that reflected how we were feeling at the moment.  I felt anxious.  I guess it's because I'm going away and leaving my husband and kids dogs for close to three weeks.

"Don't know why I'm feeling so anxious.
I am going away in a few weeks, and it
will be a long time to be away from home..."
I wrote my word out with an orange coptic marker.  Gosh, I couldn't even spell it right!  Next I took some orange watercolor paint and let it drip down the page after I sprayed it with some water.  Then some yellow paint and a bit of red.   I wanted the paint to dry, and didn't have my hair dryer handy, so I  took a baby wipe and spread the colors around a bit.

Opps, some blue got in there too!  More anxiety {:-D

I added some strips of candy corn (from the Fall) and washi tape.  Then glued down a tag that came off some clothing that was in our fire (another stressful time).  The page was complete by writing how I was feeling.   Does it make you feel anxious too?

It does make me feel anxious! I think between the mispelling and the colors- you get the gist of how you're feeling. : ) Just leaving my husband and dogs for that long, even for something I want to do makes me uncomfortable. Have a safe trip and just think of the hugs and wags you'll get when you return!

I hope the act of painting/writing about your anxiety relieved some of it. I thought you images of the candy corn were particularly appropriate, since many of us find ourselves eating more sweets when we feel anxious.

Great therapy page :)
I get anxious too! I'm able to keep it all inside most of the time, but I love the idea of getting it out on paper!

It does make me feel anxious too! My tummy is in knots and I'm not the one going to Italy!

Nice expression of your feelings, especially the orange. I'm sure you will miss home, but have a great time!

Being away from home like that can definitely be stressful. Writing/journaling about it can definitely help.

That IS a long time to be gone, Deb! Being anxious is natural. How cool that you journaled this feeling.

Nice that art can help you let it all out! Great way to express yourself!

it certainly does have the feeling of anxiety. i love how you did the text. the dynamic composition contributes to a sense of unease.
i hope that creating this helped relieve some of your anxious feelings!

Yes, I think you achieved your effect beautifully! I love how you did the word and background part too- such a neat technique!
