AlphabeThursday - G is for Goal

newly rolled beads

At the start of every month, I write down three short-term goals that I hope to get accomplished that month.  June's short-term goals included watching what I eat, making new journals and beads, and starting to exercise again.  I must admit, I didn't do well on any of the goals I set out for myself, except making more beads.  I've been using the paper I bought in Italy, splitting up my bead rolling into shorter sessions, and gathering similar colors (from the same paper) into piles.

It's a new month, and time to carry over some of my previous goals or consider new ones.

1) Complete my newsletter research.
This past Saturday, I gathered my research and wrote about online newsletters.  I'm thinking if I send out a newsletter by email, I might be able to reach more people that are  interested in my artwork and techniques.  Some big questions I need to consider are: what service to pick, what time of the month should I send the newsletter out, and should it be original material or a reiteration of my blog posts.

2) Work on notecards with my Italy pics.
I decided on 13 photos that I really like from my vacation, and will be printing them on my brand new printer that I bought earlier in this week (our 10 year old printer died).  So, once more, I will see how the images look on different paper (glossy print, construction paper, etc).  If I don't like the outcome, my Plan B is to return to Walgreens and see if I can print my photos there.  For some reason, the files I wanted wouldn't open when I tried it before.  And I just noticed that my Photoshop Elements has a place that I can buy photos too.  Hmmm...  That's Plan C!

3)  Walk every day in the park.
Yes, it is July, and probably the worst time of year to exercise outside.  But I really need to set myself on a schedule and stick to it.  That's why walking in the park seems to be the best idea.  The Museum is in the park, so all I have to do is bring my sneakers and walk before work.  Or maybe at lunch time.  The other option is to wait till I get home from work and go out then.  At least that gives me choices.

Do you set goals for yourself?

I should be more goal oriented. Maybe this would help me to do more of what I want to do in a year's time, instead of setting goals at the start of the year make them every month. Great 'G' post! And, best of luck at getting your goals completed this month.

Your beads from Italian papers are so cool! I hope your goals for July turn out well :)

PS...Make sure you save your files as jpgs and not pds files for them to open at Walgreens. This might have been the problem.

I haven't been very good at setting goals lately but need to get back to doing that. Good luck on your goals!

3 goals a month seems like a good amount to set - at least you got some beads going! I feel like I set 100 goals a month and don't accomplish much - good idea to narrow your focus.

Good luck with your new goals! I haven't set too many goals lately but I've definitely made some improvements and kept on track for the most part. Maybe I'll actually write down some goals myself.

I have to set goals or I feel like I am just floundering along.

I always enjoy seeing your new beads. These are all great goals. Best of luck with them! Warmer weather is when I'm the most motivated to exercise...and then it gets super hot. But I still try to get out at least a couple times a week, even if it's just for a little bit in the morning or evening.

All good goals, Deb!
If you have a plan for walking, you'll do it. Does after work in the park work as well?
Good luck with the photo printing. I've thought of doing that myself---hmmmm....maybe a future goal for me.
The newsletter research sounds like a great topic for the BBA blog ;-)
wonderful photo of your beads curing!
