My second workshop from 21 Secrets was with Hali Karla, called Imagine You. It was divided into three parts: 1) laying paint on 3-6 sheets of paper, 2) gluing favorite sheets into my journal to collage with, and then 3) reflecting on the process.
We used a painting technique that Hali learned from Connie Hozvicka called Fearless Painting (trademarked). I'm not in the habit of painting in my art journal, so this was new to me!
It's interesting to look back and reflect on my journal spread. One of the sheets I chose to include contained some red paint that I painted with a fan brush. Something I've never done before. The paint reminded me of flowers, a passion of mine. Another thing I love is anything with an oriental flavor. I included images from the cover of a Japanese book I bought on a whim at the city book sale this past weekend. I wasn't expecting to use the book in this way - I actually bought it for the neat looking pages! That's one thing I love about art journaling: things begin to speak to you as you proceed.
