AlphabeThursday - W is for Watercoloring

Fishing Boats, by Paul Signac, 1928

My favorite paintings to look at while visiting art museum are watercolors.

The Tiger's Wife, by Tea Obreht

I've tried painting with watercolors, but use them mostly for the backgrounds in my art journal.  Here's one that came out nicely.  This journal page was done for an art class a year ago, to illustrate a book I was reading.  I decided to use it for my AlphabeThursday post in Round 4 or 5.

I'm real excited to begin continue one of the classes in my 21 Secrets workshop, called Watercolor Playground with Tammy Garcia.  I got some supplies last weekend for the class, and I started watching the videos and painting.

Creative Prompts, set of 52 cards.  From Tammy, on Etsy.
I've been following Tammy's blog, Daisy Yellow, for about 3-4 years.  Actually, she's one of the art journalist who really inspired me to delve a little deeper into the world of art journaling.  And I want to thank her for that!  It has really changed my life!

Her blog has lots of fun prompts on it. And if you are thinking of starting to get involved with art journaling, she has an tab on her blog called Art Journaling 101.

For some reason, the end of the alphabet has fewer and less used words, but not W.  It came to me very easily! What about you?  What's your favorite word that begins with the Letter W?  Come visit Ms. Jenny's blog, ...off on my tangent... , and see what others are thinking about.

I'm so happy that you are enjoying the watercolor playground workshop!!! It's been so much fun to see the transformation, to see so many people enthusiastic about watercolor. I'm loving this idea of hopping through the alphabet of inspiration. Favorite W word... wildness. As in chaos!

I've always like watercolors and have several pieces of art done in it but I'm pretty sure I couldn't do it myself. I'm glad you're enjoying your classes so much!

watercolors is one of the hardest mediums. I admire anyone who attempts them. I gave up.

I love watercolour art! I too tried to do some of my own once, but found it harder than I thought. Need to give it another try. :-)

Watercolor is a beautiful paint medium but I found it to be unforgiving. The paint runs everywhere and not always where I want it to go, but the results for those who can overcome that issue are oh so wonderful!

Wonderful. I wish I could watercolor

I like your stripes watercolor and I am pretty sure I did something similar when I first started using that medium. I am more comfortable using watercolor but I still have so much more to learn about my control.

I used to love drawing and watercolor. You are quite creative. Enjoy.

btw, you can find witch hazel more reasonably priced at your grocers or drug store.

I love watercolors best of all. Not that I'm a painter, not even. But I do enjoy the work of others, including you!
