I’ve been looking at lots of 0000s recently.  Actually, I was afraid of being a victim of identity theft.  Someone broke into my house; didn’t steal much but I wasn’t sure if they got into my paperwork.  So, I was on the phone for hours, reading credit card numbers to “bank representatives.”

I also wanted to make sure no one took any mail from the mailbox.   (FYI: I found out if you want to stop receiving those credit card checks that come in the mail, you can call them and request they stop sending them!)  I did decide to get a post office box.  I’ll be removing my mailbox from off the side of the house shortly (another suggestion) so only MY mail is delivered to my PO Box, not my ex-husband’s!  New habits to form…

The other thing I did was request my three online credit reports.  Another friend suggested this to me, and I’m glad he did.  It’s the first time I’ve done this.  If you can stomach looking at all the paperwork, I recommend you do it too.   It’s free, once a year.  The best place to go is Annual Credit Report.com.  They walk you through, step by step.  If you want to print the information off like I did, be sure to have a lot of printer paper handy!  I made a spread sheet to look at everything, because again, there were a lot of 0000s in a row!

Come over to Ms. Jenny's site, ...off on my tangent... and see what other words people are writing about!

Yikes -- I'm so sorry that your house was broken into, but relieved that not much was taken. Scary. Might be time for a security system if you don't have one already :)
And, yeah, all those 0000's are mind, and eye, boggling!

I empathize with you, Deb. When we lived in Southern California many years ago, someone broke into our house, too. You are taking wise steps with regard to the credit card agencies.

That's really scary, especially when there is an ex-husband involved. Probably one has nothing to do the with the other, but it's such an unnerving situation.

Glad you are taking an active approach to solving the problem.

I'm seriously thinking of getting a pistol permit along with a pocket pistol.

Lots of O's lately, like "O Dear," "O Dear," "O Dear," "O Dear," and more? Having ones home broken into is terrible. Been there. It isn't so much of what they stole but more of "I've been violated." A sickening feeling, forever.

Well, Deb, you sound pretty savy so I know you will be in better shape as far as security goes than before. Thanks for dropping in on my "O's" with the old car and buildings. It was a fun letter.

Oh my goodness, I hate hearing this! It seems our world is going to heck and no one cares! There is nothing worse than some stranger rummaging thru your things! Aack! I hope it all works out for you and eventually these creeps will get their just punishment! I hope you have a wonderful weekend and again I am sorry for your hassle.

I hate it when thieves break in...
Identity theft is a point of grave concern.
May we all protect ourselves.
